The 80s Twist
Experience a residence with elevated playfulness and curved lines, drawing inspiration from the nostalgia of the 80s era. Our design ethos transforms this home to be contemporary, comfortable, and simple, integrating new functionalities to align with the changing lifestyles of the occupants. With an increase in usable space, we revitalized the existing structure while preserving the essence and style of the original home. The owners' desire to retain old furniture and cherished possessions served as a key influence, guiding us to create a design that seamlessly merges the past with the present.
The interior design reflects elements of the 80s era, aiming to modernize while maintaining the nostalgia of the past. The use of curved lines instead of sharp angles ensures accessibility for elderly inhabitants. The remodeled bathrooms now accommodate wheelchair access, with a modern and adaptable layout. The house orientation, sacred relics, and room functionality are carefully considered to match the homeowners' changed lifestyle, with increased usable space.
Emphasizing a bright and open ambiance, we carefully selected a muted color palette to add nuance while maintaining a timeless and contemporary style. Each room is distinct yet harmonious, avoiding monotony and ensuring long-term stylistic relevance. The use of natural light is enhanced by new windows, providing a brighter and more spacious atmosphere. We employed a mix of modern and traditional materials, such as polished and textured stones, popular in the past, alongside handmade tiles for a natural and artisanal touch.
The renovation of this multi-level home incorporated unique challenges due to the original design but successfully catered to the evolving needs and cohabitation of individuals in different life stages. Balancing aesthetics and practicality, we aimed to create a space where the homeowners could happily reside in their renewed old home.
